Subject: Class visitor today + Living Traditions Festival
In order to learn a language, it's essential to learn about the new cultures.   Today and Friday - Sunday are two unique opportunities.

1.   If passed, the DREAM Act would offer "... undocumented immigrants who were brought into the U.S. when they were children a pathway to citizenship by earning a college degree or serving in the military."   Certain interested parties are completing The Dream Walk across the USA in support of the DREAM Act.  SLCC student and personal friend   Raymi GutiĆ©rrez is participating.   She will spend 15 minutes of class explaining its importance to Spanish learners.   (Information about this Walk will be included in the CH 1 test.)    www.thedreamwalk.org

2.  Spanish-language, German-language and world culture activities: (3 o 4 de ustedes son alemanes).   The most important cultural festival in Utah, livingtraditionsfestival.com ,
is this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, in the city block of State Street and 400 - 500 South.
Friday evening come to the North Stage at 5:15 pm to see the Andean group Los Chaskis sing and dance (my husband plays in Los Chaskis).

Saturday performances start at noon.  German ancestry?  See the Swiss Chorus Edelweiss at 1:00, also the German Chorus Harmonie at 2:30.

There are a lot of other Spanish-language activities all day and evening, food booths, cultural displays, etc.
