Me at the 2012 Earth Day Fair at SLCC. Below are the signs we made:
As
a human,
am I
am I
a
natural resource?
What
can I do
at
SLCC
to
develop me
&
not waste me?
Does
the rest
of
the Earth need
me?
How
will I help if I speak more than one language?
Monolingualism
is
like being
a
dinosaur.
Multilingualism
is
like flying.
Please
take a sticker:
- Take a dinosaur, in honor of dinosaur avoidance, or
- Take a living anl,
a
face , or a m
usical, as a commitment to speak another
language.

Following are the instructions I gave my students:
Recycling handouts
Tissue box with
plastic in it
Set of ring’
plastic key ring with metal
Paper, cardboard,
plastic, metals, go together in the blue garbage bag CFL #6
Screwing the lid
tight, rinse liquid out in the bathroom sink
Eat all the food,
don’t take a little and say, I don’t like it.
Recyclemania
Student
project: Make a SLCC Recycling Video
Course
Project Assignment
- Each video must be named uniquely and must include SLCC’s name;
- must show recycling in a positive manner;
- The act of recycling must be properly represented;
- must show one or more unique school quality;
- be original, creative, innovative, and unique;
- best: less than 30 seconds long; up to 1 minute long
- SLCC Recycling dept. wants these because students will pay attention to student-driven effort (biggest SLCC recycling problem right now is people throw liquid into SLCC paper recycling containers; SLCC cannot dry out wet paper, so paper is not recycled)
- 1st step: ask students to watch similar videos at
http://www.youtube.com/recyclemania
- Then consult with the SLCC Recycling department
- RecycleMania also has a video contest every year
